I started with a sketch....

For me, coming up with scrapbook layout ideas is really hard; that's why almost all of my layouts (at least the full-size ones) start with a sketch that someone else has drawn and shared. Most of the time, I stay pretty close to the sketch design.

But occasionally, I go beyond the design, as I did with the January 15 "Let's Get Sketchy" sketch by Brenshevia:

It's a fantastic sketch in its own right, but I decided to combine it with another challenge. That led to my adding several additional elements, which added up to this layout:

The little snow bunny is my youngest granddaughter, who took her first sled ride this weekend. The papers and embellishments are from Crate Paper's Snow & Cocoa and Falala collections,

I also finished two layouts inspired by the "Stick It Down" weekend crop on facebook. The first is my creation from a "blind challenge", using the January kit from Citrus Twist Kits:

The second one is my take on the January 21 sketch on the Citrus Twist Kit blog, using the December kit and add-ons. I had some lighting issues (we live in one of the sunniest cities in the country, but it was overcast this weekend)

And this one was based on the January 14 sketch on the Citrus twist Kits blog; I used the main December kit:

My scrapbooking time is still limited as I continue to rehabilitate from hip replacement surgery, but I'm hoping to increase that slowly over the nextfew weeks. Thanks for stopping by; have a great day!

"Life is what happens....

...when you're busy making other plans"....

That's kind of what happened to my scrapbooking plans in December. My scheduled two-night hospital stay for a left total hip replacement turned into a two-week stay in a skilled care facility, which included Christmas day. It was another week before I could tolerate sitting at my scrap table for anything other than a few minutes of time.

Happily, although I have a long way to go in my recovery, things are progressing well; and this week I was able to return to my scrap space (in half-hour stretches). I completed two layouts for sketch challenges. It felt soooooo good to be creating again!

I used the December 1 sketch from Stuck?! Sketches for a fun layout of my youngest granddaughter's Santa Clause encounter. At 15 months, she was fine sitting on her daddy's lap next to Santa; but she wanted no part of sitting on Santa's lap!

This is the sketch (isn't it fabulous?!):

And this is my layout, using Crate Paper's fun "Snow & Cocoa" collection:

I also usedthe January 7 sketch from the Citrus Twist Kits blog to help chronicle another granddaughter's debut as a jammer with the Brewcity Microbruisers roller derby team. Her derby name is "Anna maul". She was knocked down in the course of the meet but got right back up. We're very proud of her!

This is the sketch:

And here's my layout, using the November main kit, paper and embellishment add-ons from Citrus Twist:

This was a good start toward getting my mojo back; hoping to gai  momentum as my recovwry continues. Thanks for looking; have a great ay!
