Sketch challenges

Nothing gets my scrapbooking mojo going like a good sketch challenge! Here are a few I completed recently:

Laura Whitaker of Stuck?! Sketches  is one of my very favorite sketch designers. Earlier in the month, I showed my layout (Now What?) for Stuck?!'s January 1 sketch. The following layout is my take on the January 15 sketch. I mixed some blush-pink spray mist with gesso and sponged it through a Tim Holtz template for the background, then added a little turquoise ink sponged through a perforated mesh ribbon. Most of the supplies came from the Citrus Twist Kits' January main kit and add-ons,

I used sketch 258 from the Sketches in Thyme blog for this layout of my youngest granddaughter, along with the Citrus Twist Kits' December kit.

All of these started with sketches from the Citrus Twist Kits blog; there's a new one each Sunday. I used Citrus Twist kits for all four.

And I used an older Laura Whitaker sketch for this one:

Playing catch-up

Still trying to get caught up with sketches, scrapping and posting following a fairly rough December (mom's illness, my hand surgery and coping with a rheumatoid arthritis flare). I'm so far behind in using my kits! but ut's good to be scrapping again.

I snagged a couple of my daughter's honeymoon photos from Facebook for this layout, using the January skeetch at Creative Scrappers. The sketch was a bit tricky, but the free cut file helped a great deal. The papers and embellishments are from the Citrus Twist Kits' December collection.

I used the January week 2 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy with the Comfort & Joy collection from My Mind's Eye for a winter scene:

I started with a sketch from about a year ago from Let's Get Sketchy as inspiration for this layout, using the Bundle of Joy (girl) collection from Echo Park:

And I used the January 1 sketch from Stuck?! Sketches with the November Citrus Twist kit for this layout of my 5-year-old grandson and his dog:

There are more, but that's enough for one post. Thanks for looking; have a great day!

December layouts

After the doctor said I could start using my hand again (on a limited basis) after surgery, I spent Christmas week creating a few layouts. These are the last of 2016:

The first four layouts all are based on sketches from the Citrus Twist blog. The first two use mostly products from Crate Paper's Snow and Cocoa collection:

This man is the absolute best Santa ever! He used to be the mall Santa at the Apache Mall in Rochester, MN, but now can be found each December at a local toy store. My Minnesota grandsons are "too old" for Santa, but happily posed for photos with Samta and their new baby sister. The older one even smiled! (he never smiles in photos)

An area photography studio did "10 minute mini sessions" in a local park in December. My oldest daughter and her family got some wonderful photos of their family, quickly and in a fun setting.

I used the Comfort & Joy collection from My Mind's Eye for the next two layouts.  The background papers are from Diecuts With A View's Embossed White stack.

The last layout is based on a sketch from Sketches in Thyme. I used papers from Snow and Cocoa as well as Comfoet & Joy.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

It's good to be back!

It feels so good to be back in my craft room scrapping again after a month-long hiatus. The weekend after Thanksgiving, my mom was admitted to the hospital for what turned out to be a week-long stay, with another 10 days in a skilled care facility. She's home and back to her old routine, but it was a scary few weeks. I also had carpal tunnel release surgery on my right hand in December, which further put a kink in my scrap time.

These are the three layouts I completed just before Mom's illness and my surgery. All three were created with the November main and add on kits from Citrus Twist Kits. The first two were based on sketches from the Citrus Twist blog. I used a Sketches in Thyme sketch fir the third.

My youngest daughter and her fiance call their blended group of kids and pets their "famiy of friends".

My mom's favorite place in town to visit is the zoo. She loves feeding the animalas!

Our newest granndaughter is a licky girl; she has two adoring older brothers who help to look out for her!

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!
