Into the Woods

My layout today features photos from a camping trip my youngest daughter and her family took over Labor day weekend. It was created with the September main kit, patterned paper add-on and embellishment add-on from Citrus Twist Kits. I used sketch #293 from the Sketches In Thyme blog:

I also followed today's "Three to Inspire" challenge on the Citrus Twist Kits blog: 1) Three or more patterned papers (two journaling cards, some notebook-patterned paper for the tag, and strips from another patterned paper; 2) a circle and a triange shape; and 3) stitching (on the tag). I have to confess: my hands currently are pretty stiff from arthritis and I'm unable to thread either a hand-sewing needle or my sewing machine, so that's faux stitching added with a black pen.

That's all for today; thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Let her eat cake!

My youngest granddaughter recently celebrated her first birthday. We couldn't attend her party, but my daughter sent some adorable photos of her smashing her birthday cake (cupcakes were provided for the guests!)

I used sketch 292 from Sketches in Thyme to scrap a few of the photos. Photoplay's "About a Little Girl" collection was perfect with its cute motifs and soft, girly colors.

I cut the polaroid frame with my Silhouette Cameo, adhered it with foam dots for dimension, and added that cute hippo with balloons and a heart from the paper kit. The butterfly and flower also are pop-dotted.

Right now, I'm working on Halloween cards for our nine grandchildren. they're my favorite kind of card to make. I'll post when they're all completed.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

It's football season!

Yes, it's that time of year again; and my oldest daughter's family  is ready! Her older son plays varsity football in Rochester, while the seventh grader is playing on his junior high team. I snagged some scrimmage and game photos from Facebook, then used this sketch from Susan Stringfellow:

Here's my layout, using papers from Authentique, Bella Blvd, Basic Grey and Pink Paislee, I used my Cameo to make some accents; for the falcon, I diecut the bird and added chalk pastels and glitter glue for sparkle and color:

I used the September 1 sketch from Stuck?! Sketches for another football-related layout:

And this is my layout, featuring one of my daughter's family's dogs, Zeus. I used papers from Kaisercraft, Authentique, Basic Grey and Bella Blvd:

The family also celebrated little Charleigh's first birthday. There will be photos of cake-smashing by the birthday girl later, but meanwhile I scrapped a collage of photos taken by a local photographer earlier in the summer. I used the September 15 sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:

I used the adorable "About a Little /Girl" collection from Photoplay for my layout. We think she's just about the cutest little  girl ever!

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

Back to school

The day after Labor Day meant "back to school" for my grandchildren in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Their moms snapped photos to commemorate the day; in turn, I snagged the pictures for layouts.

In Wisconsin, my granddaughter is a fourth grader this year; her brother is proud to be in kindergarten at the same school. My layout combines two challenges.  Rochelle Spears' "Scrappy Friends Challenge" asked participants to create a layout using at least three school supplies. A related challenge on GrandDiva's Creative Corner  offered a sketch challenge using this PageMaps sketch:

I came up with this layout, using mostly papers from Bella Blvd's "Alex " collection and some cute back to school embellishments from Me & My Big Ideas. I designed and made the ABC strip with my Silhouette Cameo:

School items represented on the layout include books, pencils, a tiny "bookworm" clip, a globe, a ruler, alphabet chart and sneakers.

The returning students in Minnesota are older (seventh grader and junior in high school) so I went for a different look on their layout. I chose a sketch from Susan Stringfellow's sketch blog:

I used the September main kit, embellishment and patterned paper add-ons from Citrus Twist Kits for a more grownup look. I cut the compass with my Cameo and a cut file from Ashley Horton's etsy store, "The Cut Shoppe".

Thanks for looking; have a wonderful week!

Catching up

I've been trying to reorganize my scrap room so that supplies are better grouped into categories and so they're more accessible. I spent some time working on that goal last week, but I need a break from sorting, organizing and catetorizing. This weekend I've been catching up on a few challenges.

First up is a layout I created using Sketches in Thyme's sketch #291 by Shawn Lahr. I used Photoplay's "Summer Daydreams" paper collection pack for this fun page:

The photos were taken in July 2015 when I vacationed with my youngest daughter and her two little ones in Minocqua, Wisconsin. The kids loved fishing, but not touching the fish because "ewww, that's gross!"

This layout filled two different challenges (nothing like multi-tasking!) I used the Sept. 3 sketch from the Citrus Twist Kits blog for the kit club's weekly sketch challenge. The completed layout also filled the September 9 challenge to use the song title "I Hope You Dance" on the Cookin' Up Creations forum. I pulled papers and embellishments from my May, June and July Citrus Twist leftovers and made a mixed media background:

Cookin'Up Creations features challenges every Wednesday and Saturday; each entered layout earns a participant one entry into the monthly prize drawing for a gift card to the online store of thewinner's choice. New members are always welcome.

I created this layout for Sketches in Thyme's sketch #290 challenge, but missed the posting deadline. Here it is anyway, just because my grandson is so cute! I used the August Citrus Twist kit:

Thanks for looking. Have a great week!

Oldies but goodies!

Just two of us on the weekly Blog Lovers Blog Hop today ...

Welvome to the weekly Blog Lovers Blog Hop!

  1. Barb Prendergast-- (you are here)
  2. Camille Short -
Occasionally I like to go back to photos that I scrapped several years ago, when I first discovered this obsession hobby, and scrap them again. That's what I did with these photos of my oldest four grandchildren that I took back in 2011. My grandson Ethan, who was 8, stayed with us in Illinois for a few days. His Illinois cousins came over to spend one night. They had fun and got pretty silly!

I did a two-page layout because I wanted to include as many pictures as possible. The sketch is one that I found on Pinterest. I used a scrapbook kit that's been in my collection for about three years; just never used a lot of it for some reason. I liked the fall colors and fun embellishments to go with the fun photos. Today three of these kids are high schoolers and one is a college student. Time flies!

And here's a park layout of two more grandkids, with photos from two weeks ago. I used a sketch from the Citrus Twist Kits blog and the July main kit from Citrus Twist.

Thanks for stopping by; please be sure to visit Camille's blog to see her latest project!
