"Did Charleigh take a selfie?!"

Our youngest granddaughter is very accustomed to having her photo taken and seems to enjoy being in front of the camera. I laughed when my daughter posted this photo of little Charleigh over the weekend:

Her pose, her expression and even her arm placement looked as though she was taking a "selfie", although at 8 months she is far too young for that. I put this photo together with sketch #277 from Sketches in Thyme and Echo Park's "Bundle ofJoy" girl collection for this layout:

I love all the pink and feminine touches in this paper line!

I used the same paper line and Sketches in Thyme's sketch #276 (and photos of the same baby!) for this layout:

I added some word stickers and floral stickers from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by!

Today's show and tell

The May 15 sketch challenge at Stuck?! Sketches is a fun one, and I had a good time creating my layout. It features the little half-size Sears Kenmore sewing machine that I got for my birthday, as wll as the Reset Girl collection from Simple Stories,

And this is my layout:

I found some photos from a trip to Florida in 1981, when my oldest daughter was 3. I used the May 21 sketch from the Citrus Twist Kits blog and the May Citrus Twist main kit and add ons for a collage-type layout:

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

I snagged an adorable photo of my 5-year-old grandson petting a goat from my daughter's Facebook page. It was perfect for sketch #306 from Creative Scrappers. I used bits and pieces from my stash. The viewfinder reel, kaliedescope, clouds, arrow and starbursts were made with my Silhouette Cameo and cut files from The Cut Shoppe.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

What do you do ...

... when you have no recent photos to scrap? That's the dilemma in which I've been finding myself lately. We live 1000 miles away from our children and grandchildren, so I don't have a lot of opportunity to take my own photos, The younger generation seems to be more into taking selfies with their cell phones than in snapping a lot of traditional photos.

To keep myself scrapping, I've been taking photos of things that I like -- favorite coffee mug, some ads painted onto brick walls downtown and so on. The last time I was in this dilemma, I made a mini-album of Disneyland memories from 2012. Next I think I'll start another vacation mini-album. Meanwhile, I made this "Throwback Thursdays" layout using photos my husband took last year of the Arkansas River. I also used a sketch by Rochelle Spears and random products fom my stash:

I also took photos of  the flowers my son and daughter in law sent Mom and me for Mother's Day, using a sketch from the Citrus Twist Kits blog and their May kit.

And I took pictures of our two newly planted shrubs, scrapping them with the May 1 sketch from Stuck?! Sketches

.This week there were a few new photos of family members; this is Saturday night so I'm hoping for quality scraptime.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

Having a "delightful" Mother's Day weekend

Mother's Day weekend this year falls within the same week as my husband's birthday(May 11) and the same day as my youngest daughter's birthday. All of our family members (other  than my mom)  are in the Midwest and we won't see them this weekend, but the Fed Ex truck has made several stops with gifts for Mom, me and my husband. We will talk to everyone via phone at some point tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I've kept myself busy in my scrap room. We have a newly licensed driver in the family, so I thought that deserved a layout:

The papers are from Authentique's "Dapper" and "Rustic" collections. The road trip icons were cut with my Silhouette Cameo. The sketch is from the Citrus Twist Kits blog.

All the National Scrapbooking Day challenges floating around were great inspiration, and I've completed 14 layouts so far in May. I just couldn't help but recognize the huge chocolate dipped strawberries that my oldest daughter senr:

I used a sketch by Rochelle Spears and the April kit from Citrus Twist Kits. (Unfortunately it looks crooked in the photo, although it isn't in real life)

That's all for today. Have a great week!

What did you do for NSD?

There so many tempting online crops, challenges and events for National Scrapbook Day thar I didn't know which way to turn first! I spent most of my scrap time latr week with Cookin' Up Creations, a scrapbook forum, and on the Citrus Twist Kits Fans' Facebook page. My hands are pretty twisted looking and stiff right now from  rheumatoid arthritis, but I did manage ro complete 9 layouts between May 1 and 8, which made me happy.

I hosted a recipe challenge on the forum, using this sketch from PageMaps:

The "recipe"called for strips of patterned paper or washi tape; I used rhe latter because I have a lot of it and seldom use it. And I also included a photo that included the scrapper in the recipe because I am seldom in my own pages. My oldest daughter took this photo of my grandson and I talking. Not a great photo, but I like thar it shows us talking and laughing.

I didn't have many unscrapped family photos, so I took photos of things that I like, so there will be more pages "about me" in my albums. These 3 were all from Citrus Twist challenges, either using a sketch or lifting a design member's layouts.

Yes, I love teddy bears...

... and coffee ...

... and the sparkle from the jewelry counter at a store in downtown Pueblo...

...... and the various forms of art that decorate the buildings and public areas in our new home town:

I'll be back to show more later this week. Thanks for stopping by!
