Waiting for the sun to shine

It's a bit of a rainy, cloudy and just generally gloomy looking day here in southern  Colorado, This is frustrating because I have several newly completed layouts to photograph and post, but it's waste of time to do so on a day like today. The photos just turn out better with real, direct sunlight instead of the "inside lights".

After making a couple of  baby mini-albums as gifts last fall, I decided to make one for my daughter-in-law's parents. Their son and his wife are expecting a baby boy in July. This will be Betsy and Pete's first grandchild, and they are soooo excited! After a lot of thought (there are a ton of cute baby paper collections out there) I chose Carta Bella's Rock A Byb Baby Boy collection. I bought the 6x6 paper pad and the 12 x 12 sheet of chipboard stickers, then added some cardstock and some leftovers from the Echo Park Bundle of Joy collection left over from a mini I made last fall, Here's the completed album (Betsy and Pete will not see it here, as they would on Facebook, so it's safe to show it off)

This is a 6x6 inch book. I designed it to utilize standard wallet size photos, since they are easy to get printed and fit well within this small format.  For elements that will adhere over part of a photo, I added a bit of waxed paper to protect the adhesive and make it easy to slide in the photos when baby arrives.

That cow over the moon element is my favorite in the collection. Love it!

The right side of this two page spread is for additional photos, notes keepsakes etc

It's always a little difficult to give up an album or other piece I've created, but I know the grandparents-to-be will enjoy filling it with pictures.

There was no sunlight when I finished this layout because it was nearly midnight, but it had to be posted within 10 minutes to be in the running for the $5 store credit prize, so I photographed it under my Ott light. The sketch is from the Citrus Twist Kits blog, Most of the papers, ephemera etc. came from the March main Citrus Twist Kit and add ons. This kit is so full of fun, bright colors! The flamingo paper is my favorite,

And I just "beat the clock on this layout also, The sketch is the March 15 sketch on Stuck?! Sketches, and the Linkz window for uploading layouts to the blog closes in less than an hour, The best available lighting source is in our kitchen, and it's not great for photographing layouts. This is the best I could do. Th finished layout looks much different than I envisioned in my head, but I had a good time making it,

That's all for today (gotta get some sunshine soon so I can show the other finished projects). Have a great week, and thanks for looking.

Wow! Awesome layout! I love the contrast of your background and the black film strip! Thank you so much for joining us at Stuck?! Sketches and linking up at the last minute!
