Grandkids and a wedding

This week I have more layouts this week featuring some of the grandkids, plus a double-page wedding spread.

I used sketch #263 from the Sketches in Thyme blog and the February main kit and add ons  from Citrus Twist Kits for this fun layout of my granddaughter Anna's birthday party, The two big paper piecings are designs from The Silhouette Design Store. I also designed and cut the Annamaul and the MicroBruisers piecing.

My "granddog" and her unusual smile are the subject of this layout, with a sketch from Let's Get Skeetchy. I used the Citrus Twist January kits.

Double-page layouts are difficult for me to photograph, but I really like the way this one turned out and wanted to include it, I used an older sketch by  Susan Stringfellow for Basicgrey and the Reset Girl collection from Simple Stories,

Thank for looking. Have a great day!

Stuck?! -- two new layouts

I am a huge fan of Laura Whitaker's sketches, so I try to check out the Stuck?! Sketches blog each month. Both sketches this month are fabulous, as usual.

This is the Feb. 1 sketch:

My third grandchild turned "sweeet 16" last week, so I found three photos of her that I especially like and combined them with this sketch and the February main kit and embellishment add-on from Citrus Twist Kits:

Here's the also fabulous Feb. 15 sketch:

And my layout, featuring my youngest granddaughter and one of her family's three dogs. I also used the same kit from Citrus Twist Kits:

As you can see on the above two layouts, I've been playing with inks and paints a little bit. I used a chicken-wire stencil to sponge-paint on the background for this one, showing my nine-year-old daughter's rollerderby skates. These are the skates of a warrior!

I used a Stampin' Up grunge background stamp for this one; just couldn't resist showcasing grandson Hamish's unique sense of style:

I used a small paintbrush to throw around a few paint splats, too

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

One kit, four layouts (with more to come)

I was so excited last Saturday when my February Citrus Twist Kit and extras arrived; the package had a projected delivery date of Monday. I dove in right away and created this layout, using the main kit, the embellishment add-on and patterned paper add-on. I also used a Citrus Twist sketch.

The next two layouts also were created with the same kit and with Citrus Twist sketches:

This one was based on sketch #303 at Creative Scrappers. I love this kit's versatility!

I do have one more layout completed with this kit, but I haven't taken its picture yet. And I still have plenty of paper and a ton of embellishments. Thanks for stopping by; have a great day!

Celebrating the furbabies

Today I have three recently completed layouts featuring four-legged family members. They bring joy and laughter into our lives, and cause us to mourn when they "cross the rainbow bridge."

My oldest daughter and her family lost their nearly 17-year-old cat, Lenny about two weeks ago. Heather and Dustin adopted Lenny and his brother, Sebastian as kittens. "They were our first babies", Dustin said. The kittens moved with them to Minnesota and over the years tolerated the addition of three children, several dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters and other "wild life". Sebastian died several years ago, but Lenny remained relatively healthy until this winter. He was a sweet, loving cat and is greatly missed, I made this layout in his memory, using a Susan Stringfellow sketch and the Citrus Twist Kits December main kit with embellishment and patterned paper add-ons.

We lost our beloved Boston terrier, Pepper, five years ago last week. He probably had the most personality of any dog I've ever owned. He was playful, comical and a good listener; in short, a onderful companion. I found a picture of him in his prime and did this layout, using a mixture of products from the Citrus Twist November, December and January kits,

I also made a layout of my mom's cat, Lily, making herself cozy in Mom's bed. I used a sketch from Sketches in Thyme sketch and the December Citrus Twist kit, (I was trying to use up some of my current kits before the February one arrived,)

Both Lily and my mom live with us, along with our cat Ed and our dog Coco. Needless to say, the three of them keep our household lively.

Valentine's Day cards

I like to make Valentine cards for my grandchildren, inserting a few silly holiday-related riddles inside. This year we have a total of nine grandchildren, ranging in age from 20 years to 5 months old, I bought the "So Loved" collection pack by Photoplay, which offered a nice mix of traditional and non-traditional papers, and proceeded to have fun creating these cards, (I did use the cards from the Photoplaty card kit advertising as inspiration but did not buy the card kit)

These three cards are on their way to my grandchildren in Illinois, ages 19, 17 and 16. It's always a bit of a challenge to come up with cards that aren't too juvenile for the older kids (or, actually, young adults) and for boys, since Valentine paper tends to be kind of girly, The card on the far left is for my 17-year-old grandson; hopefully it's not too girly!

These three are headed for Minnesota, for (left0 to right) 1 `16-year-old guitar playing grandson. my newest 5-month-old granddaughter and my 12-year-old grandson, who is indeed awesome.

The final three are headed for Wiscvonsin to (left to right) my nearly 5-year-old grandson -- he loves our Boston terrier, Coco, so I featured a dog that looks like her; my 9-year-old granddaughter, who loves being on the local roller derby youth team (her skate name is "Anna Maul"; and my 20-year-old stepgranddaughter, who officially joined our family in December when her dad married my daughter.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!
