Color inspiration

When I start a layout, the initial inspiration usually comes first from a photo (or photos). Next come the sketch and then the papers, colors, and products to help bring the layout to life.

For these photos of a llama at our local zoo, I wanted a bright color palette since the photo colors were mostly neutrals. I found a nice combination of yellow orange, violet and teal in a Citrus Twist kit from last October. Sketch #208 from the Sketches in Thyme blog  was perfect for the photos and a journaling tag. This is the completed layout:

For my other weekend layout, I didn't have patterned papers that readily matched the colors in my photo, so I chose papers that had colors in the same "family" -- light orange and pink papers to go with the red/rust in the couch, some blues and blue greens. I used the second July sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and the July kit from Citrus Twist.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!
