This week's scrapping

This last week  of April was a relatively slow one for me scrapwise, with only three layouts completed. As (almost) always, each of them involved a sketch. All three layouts feature the same April main kit and Paper add on from Citrus Twist kits.

When I saw the sketch for the fourth week of April -- # 195 -- on the Sketches in Thyme blog, I knew right away it would be perfect for the first photo of my daughter's new puppy, Peggy Sue (after the Buddy Holly song). I chose fun,

I used a sketch from Susan Stringfellow of for this fun layout. I had already scrapped this photo in a two page spread but wanted to scrap it on its own with the old ZZ Top song title:

And this layout was inspired by a sketch from the Citrus Twist kits blog:

Thamks for looking. Have  a great week!

Snowboarding and the zoo

This week I had photos of my younger son and his wife, taken at Breckenridge Ski Resort in February, that I wanted to scrap. I also had a photo of the new African painted dogs that have taken up residence in our local zoo.

I turned to the Sketches in Thyme blog for two of the layouts. I used Sketch #193 (April, week 2) for the painted dogs. I also used numbers to satisfy a challenge on Shimelle Laine's blog and Facebook page. The numbers banner was cut with my Silhouette Cameo:

I used Sketches in Thyme's Sketch #194 (April week 3) for these photos of my son and daughter in law at Breckenridge. I also used the April kit from Citrus Twist Kits. I cut the banner with my Silhouette Cameo:

I used  sketch #153 from Susan Stringfellow's SketchSavvy blog  for this fun layout of my son. I made a stencil with some Spellbinders cloud dies and some chipboard, then sponged in my background clouds with gesso. I used the April kit from Citrus Twist with a couple additions from my stash:

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

Getting Sketchy!

I love the sketches on the Let's Get Sketchy blog. They always help to jump start my creativity. There's a new one each week, too.

I used the first April sketch on Let's Get Sketchy blog, along with the brand new April main kit and add on paper from Citrus Twist Kits, for this layout of the lion family at our local zoo. Little Mumford the cub was born in mid January and is the first lion to be born at the Pueblo Zoo in 10 years, so he's quite a celebrity. My mom and I go every couple of weeks to see how big he's grown. We were charmed this week when he climbed up on the big rock beside his daddy

I also took a cute shot of one of the zoo's resident alpacas that I decided to scrap. I used the second April sketch at Let's Get Sketchy and theDecemberl kit and paper add on from Citrus Twist kits. This one was fun and fast

I also used two sketches from the Citrus Twist blog for these two layouts. I used the December kit for this one of the Pueblo Zoo lions (from a visit two weeks ago)

Another Citrus Twist sketch and the March kit helped me to create this layout from my son's wedding

Thanks for looking; have a great day!

A happy little moment ....

Our little terrier, Coco, loves sitting with my mom and "helping" with the daily crossword puzzle. They're so cute together that I thought they deserved a layout! I used this sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

And here's my completed layout:

For years, I wondered whay people saw in those funny-looking Crocs shoes. Now I know! Because of leg and foot problems, my daughter suggested that I try a pair of Crocs. I ordered a cute floral pair that arrived yesterday. Already I love them!

They are also the subject of my latest layout, which coincidentially uses the fourth March sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

I grabbed some fun papers and washi tapes and just had fun with this one. Thanks for looking; have a great day!

For somre reason, I usually struggle a bit with boy-themed layouts. Maybe it's because most of my kits seem to lean firmly on the feminine side. That's why I jumped at the chance to do the April challenge on Mercy Tiara's Facebook challenge page: simply make a boy themed layout. I had a new photo of my soon-to-be-four year old grandson with a new haircut and, sadly a new black eye; so I combined it with a Scraptastic Club kit from last summer that was at least NOT girly. Then I used the April 1 sketch from STUCK?! SKETCHES and went to town!

This is the sketch from STUCK?!:

And here's my layout (a little hard to see the "shiner" in the photo, but it circles his left eye)

Our local zoo debuted the new baby lion, who was born in mid-January, last week. He's the first lion to e born at the Pueblo Zoo in ten years and he is adorable. His name, Mumford, was chosen in a "name the lion" poll. He is named after the band Mumford & Sons, who had a hit single back in 2009 or so called "Little Lion Man". (I voted for Faraji myself, but Mumford is cute) I used a sketch and the March kit from Citrus Twist Kits for this quick, fun layout:

The photos were taken from behind a double layer of super thick plexiglass, so they have a bit of a sheen or glare; but given that there werre two grown lions and a baby on the other side, I was happy for the protection! My mom and I will be back to the zoo again to watch Mumford grow,

Thanks for looking; have a great day!
