Halloween scrapping fun

I love scrapping Halloween, probably more than any other event or holiday. My youngest two grandchildren attended a company-sponsored party last weekend at my daughter's work, and she kindly forwarded some iPhone photos.

For my first layout, I used the October 25 sketch from Citrus Twist Kits. Instead of traditional Halloween products, I used the lovely October main kit, Sprinkles and patterned paper add on from Citrus Twist. The layout's color scheme also fit the October color challenge on the ScrapMuch? blog.

This is the color palette from ScrapMuch?

I used the October 16 sketch from the ScrapMuch? blog for this one. It also falls pretty well into the October color challenge. I didn't buy any new Halloween papers or so on this year because I had tons left from the past two years of kits from the Scraptastic Kit Club. I laid the embellishments pretty thick for this fun and busy layout:

We're making progress in our packing and other moving-related activities. My scrap room is slated to be packed within the next couple of days, but I plan to fill my "crop bag" with basic supplies and a kit of two, so I can continue to take a scrap break now and then.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day

Too much fun!

After packing up a few more boxes today (mostly Christmas things), I took a "craft break". Let's Get Sketchy  posted a new sketch (the 4th and final one for October) and I couldn't wait to try it!

Here's the sketch:

Our town held its annual Scarecrow Festival over the weekend, with a scarecrow/punpkin decorating contest. The one in front of The Flour House, a charming little coffee house and bakery, was my favorite. Here's the layout I made featuring the photo of "Perky", using the sketch:

This was just too much fun to make. Thanks for looking -- have a great day!

Let's get packing!

With just three weeks until our scheduled "move date", most of my time is spent packing our belongings into boxes. My scrap room is on today's agenda. The plan is to pack a kit or two and "essential supplies" into my rolling crop case, so I can still scrap a bit until we get settled in our new home, and to box up all the rest. As I look around my crowded and messy craft room, I can say I'm not looking forward to sorting and boxing all of this!

I created just one layout in the past week, using October sketch #2 from the "Let's Get Sketchy" blog.  Here's the sketch:

I liked the open feel of the design and thought it was perfect for showcasing a favorite photo from my son's wedding. After the initial layout was done, I kept trying to add more embellishments but kept taking them off. Sometimes simple is best:

I used the October kit from Citrus Twist Kits, with the addition of gold foil paper (leaves cut with my Silhouette and  a digital cut file from Citrus Twist), lace and a paper flower from my stash. I printed the words to the song "At Last" on gray cardstock .

Two more to wrap up the weekend!

It's Sunday. and I'll be heading home tomorrow . It's been a a productive week for me scrapwise, in spite of not having "all my stuff" at my disposal.

I actually finished this one last night, using Sketch #167 on the Sketches in Thyme blog. (Can you tell that I love sketches?)

This is the sketch:

And this is my take on it, using the June main kit, paper and "sprinkles" add ons from Citrus Twist Kits:

The first sketch of the month on the ScrapMuch? blog is for a double-page layout. I used it to create this layout of photos from my son's wedding.

This is the sketch; you can find it and many others on the ScrapMuch? blog.

Thanks for looking; have a wonderful weeik!

Scrapping on this beautiful afternoon!

Still in Minnesota, where the weather today is sunny and breezy but mild. The grandkids are occupied with video games, bike rides and friends, so I've had some quiet time to scrap,

I used the October 9 sketch on the ScrapMuch?  blog for this fun layout of my daughter's ancient cat, Lenny. My older grandson's friend said the photo of Lenny is "purrfect"!

Here's the layout:

I used the September main kit (along with a patterned paper add on) from Citrus Twist Kits, borrowed my grandson's colored pencils and just had fun with this one.

Thanks for looking! Have a wonderful weekend

Scrapping away from home

I have a very well equipped scrap room at home, which I tend to take for granted. It's always a big challenge to pack for scrapping anywhere except home. What should I take? What do I want to work on? What will I need? What if I don't have something that I need or want?

This week I'm staying with two of my grandsons in Rochester, MN,, while their parents take a much-deserved vacation in Key West. Because the boys are 10 and 14, my role is supervisory more than caretaking, which leaves me plenty of time to scrap. I brought four kits and my basic supplies; so far I've managed to make two layouts with what I have on hand.

The first layout is for the Let's Get Sketchy blog. I love this sketch (October Week #1)  because it gives me a great plan for my layout while leaving room for interpretation. Here's the sketch:

 And here's my layout, using the June kit and a couple of kit add-ons from  Citrus Twist Kits;

This one is my take on this week's sketch challenge on the Citrus Twist blog, using the September "Haight" add-on kit from Citrus Twist:

Thanks for looking. Have a great day!

Why yes, I should be packing ....

We're moving from Illinois to Colorado in about seven weeks. There is so much to pack, arrange, and do between now and then! But since my better half is watching the Bears game with friends,  I decided to take this chilly Sunday afternoon to work on a quick scrap project,. It's a great stress reliever!

I started with the October 1 sketch from Stuck?! Sketches (if you haven't discovered this blog yet, you need to check it out) and combined it with the Saturday, October 3 "Three to Inspire" challenge on the Citrus Twist Kits blog (another great place!) The challenge was to 1) machine or hand stitch on your layout 2) stamp on your layout and 3) use a large photo. I stitched in pink on my chevron stripes, which were cut by hand; stamped the date; and used a larger photo than I usually use. I also used the Citrus Twist September main kit and patterned paper add on,

This was fun!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout. I rotated it sideways to better fit my vertical photo:

This one was from yesterday, using the September 27 sketch from the Citrus Twist blog and the September kit, along with a few items from my stash.

And now, back to packing. Have a great week!
