Hey it's me!

I very rarely appear in my own layouts, but I managed to hand over the camera to my husband for a photo of me with our new grandson. It was perfect for  a "Blue Plate Special" challenge on the Cookin' Up Creations forum to use a photo of a grandma (that would be me)

It also fits perfectly with the May 3 challenge on Scraptastic Club's blog to use your punches. I border-punched the bottom of each layer of paper here.

Actually, I "scrapped myself" twice this week. Five years ago, my daughter and I meet four of our friends from an online scrapbook forum. The six of us traveled from Michigan, Illinois, California and Wisconsin for a weekend get-together.

So .... have you scrapped yourself lately?

It's Monday and that means ...

... another Nuts About Sketches reveal!

This week was another two-page sketch; Shawn's 2-pagers are always awesome. This week though, I used just one side because I wanted to focus on a particular photo. Here's sketch #215:

... and here's my sketch, using (and turning) just the right side:

This was granddaughter Anna's first year with T-ball (she's four) and she was thrilled about having a uniform to wear. According to her mama, she mostly chased butterflies in the field, threw the ball wherever, and ran from first to third base "to save time". (I added a tag with hidden journaling after I took this shot, and all of that is on there so we can embarrass her when she's a teenager) It's fitting that her team is the "Rockhounds", since her paternal great-grandfather is a geologist. I used my last Burlap & Buttercups kit for this one; so sad that B & B is gone but wishing Rachel all the best.

This layout also fit the May 17 challenge on the Scraptastic Club blog to use my stash, along with flowers, buttons and brads. I used two floral embellies with a big brad in the center of one and a button in the other.

Are you scrapping on this Memorial Day? I finished a layout for a Telephone Scraplift challenge, using the Faded Jeans kit from Scraptastic Kit Club; can't show the entire layout yet, but here's a peek:

... and here's an invitation to the upcoming Birthday Bash 3.0 at Cookin' Up Creations. We had a major hardware crash last month that took out the entire forum, but we're back and better than ever! Come celebrate with us ....

Another Saturday night ...

... and I'm spending quality time in my scrap room. That's my favorite late-night place to be! Right now I'm working on the finishing touches for Monday's Nuts About Sketches design, which is due in just a few hours. (Oh no, I don't procrastinate .... much!)

Meanwhile, here's my take on last Monday's sketch. I rearranged the elements a little bit to accommodate this photo of my youngest daughter with my youngest grandchild. I am seriously loving the Bella Blvd. "Baby Boy" collection. Just look at those fun patterns and adorable chipboard elements!

I've also been "refurbishing" a few layouts that I created last year for the local scrapbook store, using Karen Foster themed papers. The papers themselves are not my usual "style", and I wasn't quite happy with the results. Today I reworked this one:

It was "okay", but over the past year in my photo album, the border had gotten a little bedraggled and I wasn't liking the rhinestone flourish. It also didn't have a title; I had thought the word "CHERISH" on the paper was sufficient.

Here's the rework, with a flourish cut with the Cricut Picturesque cartridge, then crimped and swiped with glitter paint. The Rose was cut with Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One die and then also dipped in paint. I replaced the border with a pleated ribbon and added a title.

Here's a close up of the flourish. I used green ribbon for "leaves" and a doily underneath to hide some damage to the paper that happened when I removed the flourish.

Thanks for stopping by; have a wonderful Memorial Day!

One month old ...

Our newest grandson  recently hit the one-month mark. I marked the occasion by taking my mom to Wisconsin to meet little Hamish for the first time. And of course, I had to take a few photos.

I don't do a lot of two page layouts anymore, but I love the two-page sketches that Shawn creates for Nuts About Sketches. Here's one from our visit. Check out Hamish's cute little sneakers!

The patterned papers are from the Bella Blvd "Baby Boy" collection.

There was a 12 hour sketch challenge at Inspired to Scrap on Wednesday, and since I had a little time to play, I created this layout of my youngest daughter and granddaughter:

Today I'm refurbishing some layouts for display at the scrap store uptown. I created two Father's Day layouts with Karen Foster golf paper and two wedding layouts with Karen Foster wedding paper. They were simple, fast layouts, and I was never really happy with them. The store owner asked me to "freshen them up" a little for display again this June. It's been a matter of pulling off old embellishments that I no longer really like (big rhinestones, some flowers with a bad glitter job) and replacing them with newer ones. Three of the four are done, and I think they look better. The fourth is still a work in progress!

Have a great weekend!

Friday before Mother's Day!

Any big plans for Mother's Day weekend?

Today is my husband's 60th birthday, so we'll go out to dinner at a very nice local Italian restaurant this evening. Their baked ravioli and homemade soups are amazing! Tomorrow, my mom and I will head to Wisconsin for an overnight visit with my youngest daughter and her family. We'll be home in time Sunday for me to get in a bit of scrapping, too.

I've put in some extra work hours this week, including two evenings of CPR and first aid training, so there hasn't been much time to scrap, unfortunately. I did finish this layout in time for last Monday's Nuts About Sketches reveal of Sketch #212. The papers are from Bella Blvd's Baby Boy collection, as are three of the chipboard stars and the chip heart.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Happy day before NSD!

Do you have any big plans for National Scrapbook Day? I'm going to help out at our local scrapbook store, Scrap That Moment. Tonight I may end up at the Friday night crop there, depending on how my afternoon at work goes.

Scrap That Moment received a shipment of Graphic 45's Little Darlings collection papers and stickers recently, and I've created three layouts for display in the store. How convenient that we just happen to have a new grandson!

Don't you just love baby feet .... I used sketch #203 at Creative Scrappers for this one.

I took this photo when baby Hamish met "Bapa" (the word his sister Anna uses for my husband; I am "Aga") He has such a questioning look on his face, as if to say "and who are YOU?" I created this layout using sketch #205 at Creative Scrappers.

This one is actually Anna, taken in 2009  when she was a year old. The sketch is from Sketch Inspiration.

I also wanted to play this week with the March "Be Amazing" kit from Scraptastic Club, featuring My Mind's Eye's Be Amazing line. I paired it with last Monday's Nuts About Sketches design and some photos of granddaughter Anna making chalk art. I loved that hexagonal design on the background paper:

Thanks for stopping by; have a Happy National Scrapbook Day and weekend!
